Hello.

Welcome to my diary. Here I share my journey and life with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Drop-Foot Nightmares

Drop-Foot Nightmares

Drop-foot is what I believe stems from the muscle fatigue I experience in my legs and feet. Due to nerve damage I have hit-or-miss sensations on the right-side and sometimes the left-side of my legs and feet. Some days I can feel my fingers and toes, other days I can’t feel them at all. Walking, bending, lifting, anything can and will tire me out quicker than an able-bodied individual. Heavy sandals and sneakers, easily tire my legs out causing either leg to become unresponsive—drop foot. In winter 2019, my grunge pair of Chucks were just too grunge and dirty from trips and falls. With no hope of anything desirable to wear I stumbled onto Virgil Abolah’s Off-White Collection and lunged at the buy.

A sneaker-head I am not. I would dare not attempt to flex as if I know sneakers’ color-ways, exclusive releases, etc. Unintentionally, after sitting on Abloh’s Off-White release since 2018 (I prefer the “Waffle” release), and deathly in need of a new pair of sneaks I’ve purchased and loved them ever since my first wear.

Since my drop-foot symptoms I have come to realize that the heaviness of my shoes are the burden to my legs. My attraction to The Off-White x Vapor Streets are their lightweight composition, the vibrant double lace and minimalistic color-way are indeed my favorite pieces. With the studded soles, similar to a track cleat and translucent fabrics, making for a breathable fit, the overall design is complemented by Abloh’s hanging tag. These are the perfect shoes for secretly gaudy, now muscle fatigued me :).

These shoes were purchased prior to Abloh’s run in with Black Twitter, to which some of us now question if he is in the Sunken Place or not. Though it may be...my drop-foot is a fan of this lightweight collection.
